It may not usually be deemed the most fun game in the field of gaming, but keno has tons of devoted enthusiasts. And so it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lotto-type game that’s a breeze to play, readily available in a number of different variations, and one that can return millions of dollars for gamblers who learn its countless subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.

When explaining keno to beginners, some betting pros compare it to bingo. This is at least to a certain extent apt, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to take that comparison too far would be to undervalue the countless unique aspect that make keno so interesting. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the freedom to pick the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the player is furnished with an extra degree of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she wants. And it doesn’t take a super genius to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a every day oldmarker like you used when you were in grade 3.

Once you have marked your numbers, carry the keno card back to the keno pit manager at the keno stand. The person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your face and would like to help out, without a winning ticket with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your time spent.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno slip. Let us advance to something a little more complicated, yes?

After you’ve picked your numbers, settle into a comfy keno booth and watch the action happen on a video monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are displayed in lights. If you selected winners, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get up to the keno stand to get your winnings, since a new round of keno will likely start within a few minutes.

Strategy #2: always make sure to get back to the keno stand on time!

Assuming you do not trust yourself to beat that five-minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of buying a "multi-race" card. These include the self same set of your picked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the maximum amount of rounds (fitting the number of tickets) is played, you may then get off your numb bum and go retrieve your winnings.

Still another opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno card, which normally lets you make number picks for thirty rounds or more. Heck, you can take vacation to Italy and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to get your winnings. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s bought!

And now you have learned a couple of indispensable techniques for winning keno. If you are a knowledgeable user, they might appear to be quite obvious. Still, it doesn’t hurt to study up on the basics, and if you are a novice user, every little bit of advice will help make your keno playing time more entertaining.
